Along with the success of the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation (BRF), governments and enterprises from many countries are enthusiastically seeking for international cooperation. In this context, SRP attended the first Egyptian-Chinese Investment Forum—Suez Canal: The Gateway to Silk Road at Sheraton Grand Beijing Dongcheng Hotel on May 15, 2017. The Forum was organized by the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in China and chaired by the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to China Osama Elmagdoub. In addition,  quite a few Egyptian government leaders delivered a speech at the forum, including Minister of Investment of International Cooperation Sahar Nasr, Minister of Trade and Industry Tarek Kabil and Vice President of the Suez Canal Economic Zone.

At the beginning of the forum, the Egyptian leaders first congratulated on the success of the BRF. Ambassador Osama Elmagdoub said Egypt pays great attention to the BRF and came to attend it with utmost sincerity. With ever deepening ties between Egypt and China, Egypt will continue to follow the implementation of the Belt and Road, and strive to provide stable and favorable investment environments for Chinese enterprises while mapping out its investment strategy.

At the forum, Chinese enterprises expressed their concerns about the investment environment and policies in Egypt. In response, the Egyptian side said Egypt stands ready to participate in the Belt and Road Initiative proposed by China and that it will try to provide guidance and preferential policies for Chinese investors. After the forum, the two sides reached consensus on the investments in export credit, port service, satellite remote sensing, information technology, financial service, infrastructure and other fields, making the forum a fruitful event.

Sign-in Desk

As one of the invited companies to the forum, SRP attracted great attention as it had achieved fruitful results in its cooperation with Egypt. It signed the Memorandum of Understanding on HALAL-Al Azhar Certification Cooperation for Chinese Products with the Egyptian company ITSC in May, 2016 and the Cooperation Framework Agreement on Cross-Border Technology Service Transfer in January, 2017. In March, 2017, SRP successfully delivered 2,000 orders to the Egyptian company SKY. All this has laid solid foundation for its extensive cooperation with Egypt. We believe SRP will be able to set up a connectivity network between China and Egypt on the basis of the Belt and Road Initiative, generating numerous business opportunities for China-Arab trade and cross-border technology service transfer.
